Yesterday, the federal government in conjunction with well-trusted scientists suggested a plan to re-open the economy. As I have always believed, local governments should claim the most autonomy when it comes to protecting their citizens. I believe through a few direct conversations with the federal government and joining with the states of Oregon and California in a show of solidarity, our state led by Governor Inslee has made it clear that we will use the federal plans as a guideline but we have a specific plan of our own to proceed working with this virus and proceed to a point of lifting the current restrictions we have so wisely place upon ourselves. I am happy to hear that today Governor Inslee is insisting on at least 14 days of declining cases of the virus AND a wide policy of virus testing BEFORE we even think of returning life to normal. Saving lives is paramount and we must all work to protect each other.
